Glynis Chaffin-Tinglof       Aerial landscapes and Non-Objective paintings

Artist's Statement

Painting aerial views of landscapes satisfies both head and heart. I can play with color, abstraction, even minimalism. I can retain the "feel" of a place while giving the viewer a new perspective of a familiar landscape or I can use an aerial view as a jumping off point for work that aspires to be totally non-objective.

I have been influenced by Mark Tobey, Richard Diebenkorn, Maria Viera da Silva and other artists of the 1950's. I love to layer colors, often under painting with bright saturated colors and subtracting or covering areas with opaque and semi-opaque colors to give the composition depth and perspective.

My paintings are included in corporate, public and privates collections across the country and abroad.
